Leading African-American Business Executives Pledge Financial Support for Carol Moseley Braun
December 31, 2010 -- Some of Chicago’s most prominent African-American business executives have announced their endorsement of mayoral candidate Carol Moseley Braun, and have pledged to provide millions of dollars in financial support for her candidacy
Frank Clark, Pauline Montgomery, Cecil Butler and John T. Hooker will serve as co-chairs of the Moseley Braun campaign’s finance committee. They join current finance committee co-chairs, Elzie Higginbottom and John Rogers.
“We are making a financial commitment based upon Moseley Braun’s exemplary leadership and her strong positions on public safety, education and jobs,” Higginbottom said. “We know that she will be a mayor who builds coalitions and is sensitive to the needs of people and who is also dedicated to the economic viability and development of our great city.”
The business leaders, who are representing a larger coalition of African-American business executives, also cited Moseley Braun’s long history of support for entrepreneurs and small business as another reason for their endorsement.
